Doomsday Beginnings.

The Haselbury Mill has been in existence since at least the Conqueror times and subsequently received a mention in the Doomsday Book.

Industrial past.

The Hey-day of the Mill was probably in the later half of the 19th century. During this time the new house (now used as the Hotel Accommodation) was built, the old house most probably having burnt down.

The late 19th century saw the installation of a steam engine, with factory chimney, (some remains are still visible) to provide supplementary power to the 16foot high, by 81/2 wide water wheel. (Reputed to have been the largest in Somerset).

The Mill remained in industrial use until well into the 20th century, with barley being ground into cattle feed.

Present Day.

Restaurants, function rooms and bars are housed in the listed buildings which formed the mill and granary.

Delightful en suite accommodation is contained within the impressive Georgian mill house and large functions and weddings are held in the state of the art heated wedding marquee which as with the other facilities, looks out on the River Parrett which flows gracefully through the grounds.

The future......

There are plans to replace the deluxe wedding marquee, with a purpose built, fully self contained, medieval style tithe barn. Once opened, in the Summer of 2007, this will provide the ideal location, for all year round functions, including Christmas Parties, Weddings & Corporate Conferences.  Click here for Artist Impressions.
