The Gathering in the Glade

Alongside Haselbury Mill, in an exciting and unique new development, The Gathering in the Glade aims to bring you closer to nature whilst offering you rustic and stylish accommodation, away from the hustle and bustle of urban life and giving you a unique experience to treasure.

Situated in a beautiful glade alongside the River Parrett, which meanders gracefully through the 14-acre grounds, we've developed an exclusive green area with vintage Showmen's Wagons and Gypsy Caravans. The Glade also features clean and pleasant toilet and shower facilities for those venerable wagons whose age precludes modernisation.

If you fancy immersing yourself in the luxury facilities of Haselbury Mill, only a short walk up the drive, then you're more than welcome. Choose from our stunning 'a-la-carte' menu in the Lakeside Restaurant & Bar with a glass wall overlooking the lake or indulge yourself with our home-made, wood-fired pizzas and pies along with some amazing local ales & ciders in the rustic Windy Miller's Pub.

THE MONTACUTE

Named after a nearby stately home and one of the largest Showman's Caravans ever built, it was constructed by the specialist manufacturer, PILOT in 1960 and extended in 1969. For most of it's life, it was occupied by the couple who operated the funfair in Bognor Regis. Completely refurbished in a contemporary period style, it features a double bedroom, a second bedroom with 3 single beds (2 are bunk beds) and sleeps 5 people, a small utility area and a bathroom with shower & wash basin. It's fully heated throughout with an electric stove and oil-fired radiators. A truly unique experience. It sleeps up to 5 people comfortably.

THE TOWNSEND

A very rare and valuable Showman's Wagon built in 1926, it was ordered from new by the Townsend family who sold it to us over 30 years ago. Originally on spoked wheels and pulled by 4 horses, it truly is spectacular. The interior is crafted in mahogany and features a full double bedroom and a large lounge area with a very quirky, pull-out extra bunk bed and sleeps up to 3 people. It's fully heated throughout. There are power outlets craftily hidden away in cupboards for charging mobiles & tablets. Modern Shower and toilet facilities are within 20 metres, housed in a beautifully converted horsebox and traditional Shepherd's Hut, which adds to the quirky, rustic feel of the Glade. It sleeps up to 3 people comfortably.

THE STOW

This 100-year-old, all timber Gypsy Caravan is built in the style of an original Ledge Van and named after the traditional 550-year-old Travellers' Horse Fair in Gloucestershire. There are very few of these left as it was a long-held tradition that they should be burned when the grandparents passed away. The bunk sleeps 2 people, cosily and the atmosphere is unbelievable. Modern shower and toilet facilities are within 20 metres, housed in a beautifully converted horsebox and traditional Shepherds Hut, which adds to the quirky, rustic feel of the Glade.

THE APPLEBY

A conventional Gypsy Wagon built in the 1920's, this is a 'Bow Top' with a canvas barrel roof and is named after the famous Gypsy and Travellers' meeting place in Cumbria. It sleeps 2 people very cosily on a pull-out bunk and is incredibly atmospheric. Modern Shower and toilet facilities are within 20 metres, housed in a beautifully converted horsebox and traditional Shepherds Hut, which adds to the quirky, rustic feel of the Glade. It's proved to be incredibly popular with children.

THE NOTTINGHAM

A Showman's Caravan built in 1946 which has been in use in the courtyard at Haselbury Mill for many years, it's named after where it was found and where we bought it from. It features a fully-fitted double bedroom that sleeps 2 people, a lounge and a bathroom with shower. It's fully heated throughout and has a large veranda which is ideal for watching the world go by! Sleeps: 2
